2016 – The year to #ShareShooting and help others #LearnToShoot

Now is the Time to #ShareShooting!
#ShareShooting

I would like to throw something out there, into the
e-universe. Not a new idea by any means, but a new spark. Now, I don’t usually get political or preachy, so I’ll make this short and sweet.

I’m thinking 2016 is a great year to #ShareShooting and help others #LearnToShoot!

Now, it’s not because I instruct on a part-time basis. But more because this is a critical time in our country, and this year could be life-changing for all of us; And for our children’s future; And their children. I’m sure you understand.

So, back to the point.

#ShareShooting and help others #LearnToShoot.

If you have a family member, friend, co-worker, neighbor etc. that has been uncertain or on the fence about guns and/or learning to shoot – give them a gentle nudge; take them to the range, offer to teach them how to shoot, or help them find a qualified instructor / class; go to the gun store with them to help them select a gun, invite them to watch a match; You get the idea…

Why should we do this, you ask?

  • It’s so extremely important that the first impression of / exposure to shooting is a positive, safe and informative experience. And you can be the start of, and/or a part of this movement!
  • As you already know, there are so many benefits of learning how to safely, accurately and properly shoot a firearm. Once a newbie has learned gun safety and the basic, proper techniques, shooting can become a life-long skill / hobby that is fun, challenging, rewarding, relevant, practical and empowering. And the newbie could become a life-long gun supporter.
  • It’s also an IMPORTANT election year. Our 1st and 2nd amendments are being challenged across the country, on what seems a daily basis; New executive actions threaten our rights as law-abiding gun owners. Seems the President is more concerned about restricting us than he is about doing anything, something, to combat threats to our country and citizens.
  • Reality check – And unfortunately, as the world only becomes more dangerous, our own personal safety and security is our own personal responsibility. Another priceless benefit of knowing how to shoot.
  • Each and every new, excited, safe, properly-trained, pro-shooting, pro-gun person in America can potentially help to get our country back in line.

Furthering firearm safety, training, marksmanship and education is a win-win for all legal, responsible gun owners. Let’s all get involved. The time has come.

So make a pledge to expose as many others as you can to shooting – from now, 2016, to infinity and beyond.  I’ve already started. Took my neighbor to the range last Sunday. That’s his photo at the top. And guess what? He LOVED it!

One down … Many millions to go.

Happy New Year News!

Happy New Year Her-Handgunners!

Kip Leatham (left) and Deb Keehart (right) in Las Cruces, NM for a women's competition training seminar.

2016 is in full swing and we’re back to work. We’ve got a busy spring schedule in the works already, and are really looking forward to meeting and teaching A LOT of new shooters this year.

We had wonderful weather and a great turnout for our January practice session. It was really nice to see both familiar and brand-new faces. We have a super group of women that practice with us, who are also very helpful and extremely hard workers (can you say Texas Star reset?). Between stages, we even tried to help our fellow shooters by eating most of the leftover holiday goodies they brought to share. Now, that’s true friendship. 🙂

Class-Filling Frenzy

Our 2016 Basic Pistol 101 classes are filling more quickly than ever before. We are already booking into March and April. We have had a couple of cancels in our January 10th and 16th sessions, so contact us if you want to get in last minute. info@herhandgun.com

2016 Desert Flower Ladies’ Day at the Range

The 2nd-Annual Ladies’ Day will be hosted at and presented by Rio Salado Sportsman’s Club! We are very thankful to Sue Little and the club for running this event again. We are hoping to allow 150 women from all over the valley to attend. The date has been set – so mark your calendars for Saturday, March 12th, 2016. We’ll be needing a lot of volunteers again. Please keep an eye out for more info!

Snazzy New Shirts

We’ve also had some requests for new shirts. Evidently, the sparkly glitter art work is the most popular. Even Rob has had a hard time resisting… So, I’ve added a few new designs this morning.  Check out the link below for the newly-added products. Let me know too if you have any special shirt requests.

Here’s to a healthy, prosperous, exciting, happy and safe 2016!  #PewPew

HerHandgun 2015 – It’s a Wrap!

We just wrapped up our last two December classes over the weekend. Let me tell you, these women were some of the most excited we have seen all year – must have been the cooler, invigorating weather!  🙂

Saturday’s class was so cold – we certainly appreciate the group being troopers and hanging with us for the entire session! Your attention to safety and detail was on fleek!  I can’t believe I just used that term … Yes, I have a teenager.

Our Sunday class warmed up nicely (until the sun went behind the berm). And these women also did a fantastic job with both safety and execution. Congratulations all – we hope you will be back soon for our practice sessions!

As our year winds down, Debbie and I are counting our blessings.  We want to express our gratitude for and fondness of all the wonderful women who shoot with us each month in our practice sessions. Watching you progress over this past year has been so rewarding. Not to mention, it’s been a ton of fun! We feel such a close connection to you all.  And we’re excited to see some of your friendships tighten through our gatherings too. #Handcuffs  🙂

December 2015 Classes

In addition to our “regulars”, we are extremely honored to have met such diverse, intelligent, powerful, and eager-to-learn women as we have this year in our classes!  Our favorite part about our Basic / Introductory classes is hearing your stories about why you want to learn to shoot and what your background is. It’s kind of ironic in that you are all unique, yet your stories are not so different. #CommonThread

All of you should give yourselves a HUGE pat on the back for taking that first (sometimes intimidating) step to learn how to shoot and/or making the commitment to practice your pistol skills regularly. We hope you continue to develop your talent, whether with us or somewhere else; Because Deb and I know that shooting is an extremely useful skill / practical hobby that can empower, entertain, and challenge you for the rest of your life.

Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of our HerHandgunners! May your Season be peaceful and filled with the love of family and friends.
