Jo is Going Gun Shopping!

Meeting you Kippi, and Debbie was great!  Having learned from you both was even greater!  When I came to work on Monday and was talking to some of the guys that shoot for sport here, they asked who was my instructor?  I told them your name and they said ” Wow, you learned from the best!”  That made me feel so good.  As you both were instructing us I felt your professionalism and your strong desire to keep safety first and foremost.  I learned so much from you both in such a short amount of time.  I’m glad my first experience was with you both as I feel now that I had a solid start.  A firm foundation so to speak.  My husband and I are going gun shopping this weekend.  Prior to your class I thought I liked the feel of the revolver.  After shooting it, not so much!  You did spoil me with your 1911 and Debbie’s Glock, though!  Enjoyed those!

Thanks for sharing your expertise with me!  I’m sure you’ll be seeing me around.  I think I got the bug!  What fun!

Pistol Peggy – Shoots the Center Out of Her Target!

“I really want to thank you so very much for the great job instructing me at the Sunday class. You girls are the best and I feel very fortunate to have found you! It was great for us that the class was small and we got so much individual attention.”

In 3 short hours Peggy and her classmates, were shooting the centers out of their targets! Sources say there were some smiles on these ladies’ faces!

Debbie Does “BWB” in Colorado

The Warm Weather Phoenix Girl Adapts to CCCold Colorado…

Have you ever dryfired in a banquet room?  How about played with guns and lasers in a parking garage?  Well, I know about 26 women who have!  No worries, we had permission, it was all very safe and there was no ammunition present!

When you are faced with 30 degree weather, rain, sleet, hail and snow, a “Babes with Bullets” (R)  Instructor knows how to get creative!  That is exactly what happened at our ladies pistol camp in Steamboat Springs, Co this last May!

We had 20 plus ladies expecting to learn to shoot and we were determined to teach them!  Mother Nature changed our strategy but certainly didn’t stop us.  Teaching safety, stance, grip, sight alignment, and trigger control are all things you can do indoors ( like a banquet room).  Even shooting on the move works if you’ve got room.

Since it was off season for skiing, our condo complex was mostly empty and that included the parking garage…it was the perfect setting.(warm & dry!)  Dryfiring with lasers on the guns is a great way to see how much movement you are truly dealing with or how steady you actually are.  It’s great for target transitions too.   But,as cool a place to practice as it was, I don’t recommend this to any of you..  (Don’t try this at home).

Kudos to all the ladies at camp.  We did do a fair amount of actual shooting in the cold and rain.  I don’t think there was one complaint except maybe from me when my hands got so cold I couldn’t even rip the tape for the targets.  When the camp was over, the ladies had learned a lot, shot some great courses of fire, and went home with a new love for shooting!

2011 Classes Scheduled!

Our January Basic 101 class was a BLAST and very inspiring!  We had SEVEN women on the range of varying skill levels – with a multitude of different pistols – and they all shot GREAT, improved their individual skill set and exhibited increased confidence with their handguns.  We think they even had fun while doing this … : )  Deb and I really hope to see you all again at our monthly practice sessions.
